Practice ACT Reminder Thursday Oct. 22

Good Evening SHS Families,

As a reminder on October 22, all Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors will take the practice PreACT/ACT in preparation for the official exam on April 8, 2027. Freshmen and Sophomores will take the practice PreACT, while Juniors will take the practice ACT.

To accommodate testing, students in grades 9-11 will follow an alternative schedule with an early dismissal at 1:05 PM. You can view the schedule here. After testing, students will have lunch before dismissal. Buses will run at their regular time (2:50 PM), so students without transportation may remain on campus until then. There is no IVVC on October 22, for Juniors or Seniors. We ask that no students are called out during testing. SHS will have open campus after testing, any student who needs to ride the bus will remain in the cafeteria until our regular dismissal time of 2:50. 

Testing Day Reminders

  • Charged Chromebook: Students must arrive with their Chromebook fully charged. Be sure to also bring the charging cord. 

  • All juniors need to bring their calculators.

  • If a Chromebook runs out of battery and requires charging during testing, it is considered an irregularity and may affect the entire testing group.

  • All students need to bring a pencil.

No Smart Devices: Phones, smartwatches, meta glasses, and other electronic devices are prohibited during testing.

  • Devices must be turned off and stored in the school locker or personal vehicle.

  • Devices cannot be kept in pockets or accessed during breaks.

  • Backpacks and purses may only be accessed after testing is complete.

  • Any attempted use of an electronic device during testing times will result in a voided test and may impact the entire testing group.

Seniors – Alternative Learning Opportunities

Seniors will have the opportunity to use October 22, for one of the following:

  • College visit

  • Trade school visit

  • Job shadowing

  • Volunteer work

Seniors do not need to be called in for attendance; they will be marked excused for the day.
