Good Evening SHS Families,

We are very excited for the start of the school year and are looking forward to the laughter, energy, and joy that our students bring as they return to the building! We would also like to thank everyone who attended our Back-to-School Bash and Open House. It was wonderful to see so many of our students and families!

Below are a few important reminders for Wednesday, August 12, as we kick off the new school year.

Back to School Reminders

SHS Start Times

The first day of attendance for all students is Wednesday, August 12. First period begins at 8:00 a.m., and tomorrow we will have an early dismissal at 1:05 p.m.

Beginning Thursday, August 13, SHS will follow our regular school-day schedule of 8:00 a.m.–2:50 p.m.

Please note that IVVC does not begin until Thursday, August 13. Therefore, on Wednesday, all students should follow their SHS schedule for the day.

  • AM IVVC students will begin their day at SHS during 4th period at 9:51 a.m.

  • PM IVVC students will be dismissed from SHS at 10:24 a.m., at the end of 4th period.

Student Schedules

Please have your student check their schedule tonight and again tomorrow morning. Schedules are still being adjusted as we work to balance class sizes and make necessary changes.

Students should follow the schedule currently listed for them when they arrive at school Wednesday morning. If there is an issue with a schedule,  our Student Support Department will work with students to address it as quickly as possible.

Student Parking

Many students have already purchased their parking passes and have been assigned a parking spot. Students who have not purchased a parking pass have not been assigned a parking spot.

Students who still need a parking pass should report to the main office Wednesday morning to purchase a pass and receive an assigned parking spot.

Students should only park in their assigned spaces. If a student parks in an unauthorized or unassigned space, administration will ask the student to move their vehicle. The student will then need to purchase a parking pass and will be assigned an appropriate parking spot.

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation as we work together to make the first day run as smoothly as possible.

We are excited to welcome our students back and look forward to a great start to the school year!

Sincerely,
Dr. Shane Darnell
Principal
